Academics: Social Studies: Students did a great job presenting their information on why the colonists were able to win the Revolutionary War against Britain! Now, we will turn to a quick study of the Bill of Rights, the first 10 amendments to the United States Constitution (we studied the Constitution in depth at the beginning of the year). Reading/Writing: Students are really enjoying writing one last narrative. They are writing a fictional piece based on a photo of a dog from a dog calendar. They are being so creative! Checkbook: 5th-grade families also are asked to sign their student’s green “checkbook” on the highlighted line AT THE END OF EACH WEEK. This checkbook shows your student’s bonuses for awesome “Great Expectations” behavior (safety, respect, responsibility) and fines for where students need to improve. Students are trying to earn enough “money” to attend the quarterly reward party and items at the semester auction. Class Communication: We have a Web site.
